Azerbaijan reveals total amount spent to tackle COVID-19
Azerbaijan has spent 807 million manats ($474.7 million) to fight the coronavirus pandemic until now.
The statement was made by the country’s Finance Minister Samir Sharifov at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship during the discussion of the bill "On the execution of the state budget for 2021", according to Report.
He said that in 2021 alone, 261 million manat ($153.5 million) was allocated to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, but this amount turned out to be insufficient.
“So, 266 million was additionally allocated from the State Budget Reserve Fund and 280 million from the Mandatory Medical Insurance Fund to fight the pandemic. The allocated funds were mainly spent on the purchase of vaccines and related medical equipment, special payments to doctors, volunteers and other medical expenses,” Sharifov said.
