Georgia, Kazakhstan discuss boosting transport cooperation with Azerbaijan
Georgia and Kazakhstan have explored ways to deepen trilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan on container transportation along the China–Europe corridor.
According to Georgia’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the issue was discussed during a meeting between Georgian Minister of Economy Mariam Kvrivishvili and Kazakh Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The two sides highlighted Azerbaijan’s crucial role in ensuring the stable and efficient operation of the transcontinental route.
In particular, they emphasised the significance of the joint venture Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd., created by Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan. The company aims to streamline international cargo transit by offering “one-stop-shop” services, coordinating logistics policies, and enhancing the reliability and cost predictability of shipments.
During the talks, Kvrivishvili also outlined Georgia’s ongoing infrastructure projects in the transport and logistics sector. These include the Anaklia deep-sea port, the East–West Highway, the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, and extensive railway modernisation initiatives.
The meeting concluded with an invitation from the Georgian side for Kazakhstan’s minister to attend the 5th Silk Road Forum, scheduled to be held in Tbilisi on October 22–23.
