UN-Habitat: WUF13 enables collaborative shaping of cities’ future
WUF13 provides a platform for jointly shaping the future of cities, Head of the Country Office of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Anna Soave, stated during an information session for the private sector at the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
She highlighted that cities today face multiple challenges, including climate change, the energy transition, transportation issues, urbanisation, and technological transformation, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Soave emphasised that Azerbaijan’s private sector can actively engage with the global WUF13 platform:
“Cities are shaped not only by architects and urban planners but also through business innovation, investments, and citizens’ expectations. WUF13 is an open global platform bringing together governments, investors, academics, companies, and civil society. It allows for collaborative shaping of cities’ future,” she emphasised.
Soave also noted that over 3 billion people worldwide currently live in inadequate housing conditions, which significantly impacts health, safety, and economic productivity.
The 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), organised by UN-Habitat, will take place in Baku from May 17 to 22, gathering policymakers, urban planners, development specialists, and civil society leaders worldwide to explore sustainable urban development and the future of cities.
