Official statistics reveal population of Karabakh, East Zangezur

Newly released figures show that approximately 78,000 people reside in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions of Azerbaijan.

The data was released by the State Statistical Committee, Caliber.Az reports, recording the demographic situation as of March this year.

According to the government agency, a total of 29,185 of those residents were part of the "Great Return" state program, which oversees the return of former internally displaced people (IDPs) to their native homes in the newly liberated territories.
