Baku hosts preparatory talks for WUF13 and World Environment Day
Baku has stepped up preparations for the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) and World Environment Day, with high-level discussions between Azerbaijan and the United Nations.
Anacláudia Rossbach, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the UN-Habitat Programme, met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Rashad Ismailov, to review the ongoing preparations for WUF13, scheduled in Baku from May 17 to 22, 2026, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
During the meeting, the officials also discussed areas of cooperation in environmental protection and sustainable urban development. Preparations for World Environment Day, which Azerbaijan will host on 5 June 2026 with a focus on climate change, were also on the agenda.
The forum and environmental observances are expected to attract international experts, policymakers, and urban planners, highlighting Azerbaijan’s growing role in global sustainability initiatives.
