Cargo, mail and flights rise at Azerbaijan’s leading carrier AZAL
Azerbaijan Airlines, Azerbaijan’s leading carrier, significantly expanded its cargo and baggage transportation in 2025, with volumes rising by more than 50 per cent, according to an official government report.
The figures were included in the “Report on the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025,” which was presented for discussion at a session of the Milli Majlis on Friday.
According to the report, the airline operated 35,200 flights during the year, transporting 4,162,100 passengers, 27,800 tonnes of cargo and baggage, and 1,405 tonnes of mail.
Data cited by Caliber.Az from APA-Economics shows that compared with 2024, passenger traffic increased by 2.9 per cent, while the volume of cargo and baggage transported rose by 51.1 per cent. Mail transportation also increased sharply, growing 2.4 times, while the number of flights rose by 5.1 per cent.
Passenger traffic on international routes grew by 3.3 per cent to reach 3.4 million passengers, while traffic on domestic routes slightly declined by 0.2 percent, totalling 746,000 passengers.
