Azerbaijan, TikTok discuss co-operation on digital development, education PHOTO

Azerbaijan is exploring opportunities to deepen co-operation with TikTok as part of its broader efforts to accelerate digital transformation, following talks between government officials and representatives of the social media platform in Baku.

Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Hasanov met with TikTok representatives to discuss potential areas of collaboration, including the platform’s possible participation in Azerbaijan’s 2026–2028 Action Plan for Accelerating Digital Development.

According to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the discussions focused on initiatives aimed at enhancing digital literacy, developing joint educational programmes and promoting local digital start-ups.

The parties also exchanged views on planned legislative changes concerning children's access to social media platforms.

The meeting comes as Azerbaijan seeks to strengthen its digital economy and expand opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship and technology-driven growth.

Officials and TikTok representatives also underscored the importance of continued co-operation in creating a safer digital environment and supporting the country's evolving innovation ecosystem.

While no specific agreements were announced, the discussions highlighted growing interest in leveraging global digital platforms to support Azerbaijan’s long-term digital development objectives.
