SOCAR takes over operation of key Georgia oil export pipeline from bp
As of June 8, 2026, the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP) and its associated Supsa terminal are now being operated by SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC, the company confirmed to APA-Economics.
According to SOCAR Midstream Operations, the transition follows an agreement between the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation and SOCAR, under which the previous operator arrangement with bp has expired. Operational control of the pipeline and terminal has now been formally transferred to SOCAR Midstream.
The WREP is a major energy export corridor linking the Caspian region to the Black Sea and international markets. It remains a strategically important route within the region’s energy infrastructure, facilitating the transport of crude oil to global destinations.
bp previously served as the operator of the pipeline system and the Supsa terminal before the handover.
