Azerbaijan–China trade rises 6.1% in early 2026, driven by strong import growth
Trade between Azerbaijan and China increased in the first four months of 2026, reflecting continued expansion in economic ties between the two countries.
Bilateral trade turnover reached $1,513,789,800 in January–April 2026, representing a 6.1% increase compared with the same period in 2025, Caliber.Az reports, citing data from Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.
Exports from Azerbaijan to China saw a significant rise over the period, increasing by 59.9% year-on-year to $40.03 million. The share of Azerbaijani exports in overall trade with China also edged higher, rising to 0.34% from 0.28% a year earlier.
Imports from China, meanwhile, continued to dominate bilateral trade flows. They increased by 5.1% to $1.47 billion, accounting for the vast majority of total trade.
The share of imports in the overall structure of trade rose to 26.68%, compared with 17.24% in the same period of 2025.
