SOCAR, KazMunayGas reach 4 million tons in Kazakh oil transit via Azerbaijan
SOCAR and KazMunayGas have reached a milestone of 4 million metric tons in the transportation of Kazakh crude oil via Azerbaijan, underscoring the growing role of the trans-Caspian corridor in regional energy exports.
The 427th shipment of Kazakh oil departed from the port of Aktau Port on March 12 aboard the President Heydar Aliyev tanker and arrived a day later at the Sangachal Terminal, operated by Azertrans, Caliber.Az reports per SOCAR.
Of the total volume transported since the project’s launch, approximately 3.8 million tons originated from the Tengiz oil field, while 200,000 tons were supplied from the Kashagan oil field.
The first batch of Tengiz crude was shipped from Aktau to Baku on March 23, 2023. Deliveries from Kashagan began later, with the first shipment arriving on January 27, 2025.
After reaching Sangachal, the oil is transported onward to the Ceyhan Terminal through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline, before being exported to international markets.
The Azerbaijani side of the project is managed by SOCAR’s subsidiary, SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC.
