Azerbaijan's Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council condemns latest Armenia-France arms deal
The Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council of Azerbaijanis (EAPCA) has issued a statement against France's sale of lethal weapons to Armenia.
The corresponding document was signed by EAPCA Secretary General Sahil Gasimov, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.
Proceeding from the document, France is pursuing an aggressive policy in the South Caucasus that is contrary to international conventions and inciting Armenia to revanchism and war against Azerbaijan.
EAPCA states that the provision of Armenia with offensive and lethal weapons by France, which has an experience in bloody military aggression, expansion of military cooperation between Armenia and France make the outbreak of a new war inevitable.
Thus, EAPCA condemns the signing of a contract on the sale and purchase of Caesar howitzers between France and Armenia and considers this as France’s another provocation against Azerbaijan.
“Such incidents are aimed at undermining the normalisation of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the efforts to establish peace and tranquility in the region,” the message said.
France finalised a significant defence agreement with Armenia on June 18, sealing a deal for the supply of CAESAR howitzers, according to statements from.
French Minister of Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu highlighted the strengthening of defence relations between Paris and Yerevan, emphasizing the productive discussions held with Armenian Defence Minister Suren Papikyan.
The CAESAR (Camion Équipé d'un Système d'Artillerie) is a 155mm self-propelled howitzer mounted on a Renault Sherpa 10 truck chassis with an armuored cab, known for its mobility and firepower.
