Azerbaijan's thermal power plants increase electricity output
Azerbaijan thermal power plants increased electricity production by 210.1 million kW/h or 8.56 per cent to over 2.66 billion kW/h in January 2023.
Meanwhile, hydropower plants’ output dropped by 13.5 million kW/h or 24.95 per cent to 67.2 million kW/h, Report informs, citing the Energy Ministry.
During the reporting month, production of electricity from other sources (wind power plant – (WPP), solar power plant (SPP), and solid waste management plant SWMP) amounted to 24.06 million kWh, which is by 640,000 kWh or 2.59 per cent more compared to the same month of last year.
As reported, over the month, WPPs produced 0.78 million kWh of electricity (down 88.36 per cent), SPP produced 3.93 million kWh (up 19.09 per cent) and SWMPs produced 19.35 million kWh (up 31.63 per cent).
In January this year, electricity generation across the country increased by 195.9 million kWh, or 7.7 per cent, to 2,755.9 million kWh, compared to the corresponding period of 2022.
