Azerbaijan strengthens diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan at UN Assembly
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on September 27 during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
The Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting highlighted the positive development of bilateral relations, founded on mutual respect for each country's legitimate interests, as well as cooperation within international organizations like the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, per Caliber.Az.
Bayramov expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia's ongoing support for Azerbaijan's position.
The discussion focused on enhancing collaboration in the areas of economy, trade, and investment, as well as exploring partnership opportunities for the upcoming COP29, the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the governments of Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia to mutually exempt holders of diplomatic and service passports from visa requirements for short-term travel.
Additionally, Jeyhun Bayramov spoke with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin about the prospects for bilateral cooperation between Baku and Dushanbe on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
