Azerbaijani Border Service UAVs hit 290 enemy targets in second Karabakh war
Strategically important enemy military equipment, anti-aircraft missile systems, including eight S-300 missile systems, tanks, armoured fighting vehicles, command and control points, and a total of 290 enemy targets were destroyed as a result of the use of the State Border Service UAVs Harop, Guzgun, and Hermes in the Patriotic War [in 2020].
Azerbaijani State Border Service Head Elchin Guliyev made the remarks in a recent interview with the media, Report informs.
"Our operatives destroyed the enemy's Su-25 military aircraft attacking them during the liberation of the Bartaz heights from the enemy in Zangilan District.
The military power that the enemy had relied on for many years was reduced to scrap metal as a result of the unmanned aerial vehicles that completely dominated the air and the battlefield. A unique military experience was formed during these hostilities in the joint combat use of the Harop and Bayraktar-TB2 UAVs," he said.
Guliyev stated that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces demonstrated to the entire world that they were significantly ahead of the enemy in combat training and mastered a new model of combat operations by employing the most modern military technologies, reconnaissance and strike UAVs, and combat methods unknown to the Armenian army.
"This war entered military history as the first large-scale war in which UAVs were intensively used," the official said.
