Pakistani speaker honors Azerbaijan’s national leader, heroes in Baku PHOTO
A delegation from Pakistan’s National Assembly, led by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, paid solemn tribute to Azerbaijan’s national heroes during an official visit to Baku on July 7.
The delegation began their day at the Alley of Honors, where they laid a wreath at the tomb of National Leader Heydar Aliyev—the architect and founder of modern, independent Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Later, the Pakistani delegation visited Victory Park, a monumental site dedicated to Azerbaijan’s triumph in the 44-day Patriotic War. A guard of honour welcomed Speaker Sadiq, who laid a wreath at the Victory Monument to commemorate the valor and sacrifice of Azerbaijani martyrs.
Officials briefed the delegation on the park’s symbolic significance. The Victory Arch, towering 44 meters high and supported by 44 columns, marks the entrance to the nearly 10-hectare memorial complex, which was inaugurated by President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva on November 8, 2024.
The visit reflected Pakistan’s continued solidarity with Azerbaijan and its reverence for the country's modern history and national resilience.
