Azerbaijani cultural delegation travels to Uzbekistan for international forum
A delegation led by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture, Adil Kerimli, departed for Uzbekistan on June 23 to participate in a series of international cultural events, the Ministry of Culture said.
Thus, the delegation will attend the 3rd International Forum of the Art of Makom in Namangan, held under the auspices of UNESCO and ICESCO, as well as the opening ceremony marking “Andijan — Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2026”, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The forum, scheduled for 23–26 June, is dedicated to the preservation and development of the art of makom (mugham). Its programme includes academic conferences, concerts, masterclasses and creative discussions involving artists and researchers from across the region.
Separately, events linked to the “Andijan — Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2026” initiative aim to promote shared cultural heritage among Turkic-speaking nations and strengthen cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The Ministry of Culture said the visit reflects Azerbaijan’s efforts to expand international cultural partnerships in line with the “Culture of Azerbaijan — 2040” strategy.
