Azerbaijani envoy visits Turkish Air Force's first unmanned air base PHOTO
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Türkiye Rashad Mammadov has visited the Turkish Air Force's first unmanned airbase in the Turkish province of Batman.
As part of numerous meetings held in the province, Mammadov met Batman Province Deputy Governor Ibrahim Gulash. The two officials discussed the development of cooperation between the province and Azerbaijan's districts and exchanged views on existing opportunities and potential, APA reports.
Another meeting took place at the headquarters of the 14th Unmanned Aerial Systems Base, the first and only unmanned aerial vehicle airbase of the Turkish Air Force, located in Batman.
During the meeting with Brigadier General Ihsan Kaplan, both sides emphasized the Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood and noted that the military sphere is given a special place in bilateral relations.
The meeting between the ambassador and Batman University Rector Idris Demir focused on prospects for interuniversity relations.
During the meeting, the rector noted Batman University's interest in expanding ties with Azerbaijani universities with extensive experience in the energy field.
The ambassador also took part in the conference "Azerbaijani-Turkish relations and the role of [late national leader] Heydar Aliyev" organised at the university.
Speaking at the conference, Ambassador Rashad Mammadov informed students about the periods of development of bilateral relations, and the rich contribution to the comprehensive development of these relations of Heydar Aliyev, who came to power in a difficult time after the restoration of Azerbaijan's independence. He also noted that Azerbaijani-Turkish relations are currently at the highest level of development through the joint efforts of the heads of state of both countries for the whole of history.
The ambassador took part in opening the Azerbaijan Room at the university. During his visit to Batman Province, Mammadov also visited the Karabakh Park, which opened in June this year.
The ambassador familiarised himself with the pavilions in the park and commemorative plaques with information about historical figures from Karabakh.
