Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry preparing for snap presidential elections
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry is preparing for the snap presidential elections scheduled for February 7.
The Foreign Ministry, together with the Central Election Commission (CEC), organised a videoconference seminar for those working in the Azerbaijani diplomatic missions on January 22, the ministry told Caliber.Az.
The conditions should be created for the Azerbaijani citizens living outside the country or who are on long trips abroad to be able to vote.
Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev noted during the event that 49 polling stations have been created in 37 countries as part of the preparation for the elections.
He spoke about the measures taken to organise the voting process in foreign countries, including the work carried out for international observers to participate in the elections.
CEC Deputy Chairman Rovzat Gasimov emphasised that the CEC intensively interacts with the Foreign Ministry daily for Azerbaijani citizens living abroad to be able to vote. All emerging issues are resolved.
According to the statement, the number of polling stations established abroad and countries, where the voting process will be organised, has increased.
Director of the Consular Department of the Foreign Ministry Emil Safarov informed the participants about the upcoming work, as well as the action plan of the Foreign Ministry and the headquarters created at the ministry, which will deal with the election issues.
