Azerbaijani leader salutes Kazakh literary icon on 90th birthday milestone
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to People’s Writer of Kazakhstan Olzhas Suleimenov on the occasion of his 90th anniversary, highlighting his literary legacy, public role, and enduring contribution to the Turkic world.
In his message, President Aliyev expressed warm congratulations and good wishes, stating: “I cordially congratulate you, an outstanding representative of contemporary literary thought and a renowned public figure, on the occasion of your 90th anniversary. I wish you robust health and continued success in your multifaceted endeavors.”
Aliyev described Suleimenov as a major figure of modern Turkic intellectual life, emphasizing his role as a poet, essayist, literary critic, and researcher whose works combine national identity with universal human values.
He noted that “as a great poet, essayist, literary critic, and researcher, you stand as one of the iconic figures of the Turkic world,” adding that his works reflect “a profound national character” and a vision where “global, planetary thinking is formed precisely on the foundation of national values.”
The Azerbaijani president also recalled Suleimenov’s long-standing socio-political engagement, particularly since the 1980s, and his consistent support for Azerbaijan. He stressed that “at every turn you supported Azerbaijan’s just cause with all your heart,” while noting that Suleimenov views Azerbaijan’s victory as “a historic achievement for the entire Turkic world.”
Aliyev further underlined Suleimenov’s role in strengthening solidarity among Turkic peoples and expanding humanitarian ties, describing his relationship with Azerbaijan as “a true benchmark of friendship and brotherhood.”
Concluding his message, the president expressed confidence in the lasting impact of Suleimenov’s work, stating that his legacy “will continue to hold special significance in raising future generations in the spirit of reverence for our shared past and our common cultural and spiritual heritage.”
