Azerbaijani minister travels to China for Belt and Road Energy Conference

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has travelled to China at the invitation of Chairman of the Chinese National Energy Administration Zhang Jianhua.

The minister will participate in the third Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference, which is set to take place in Qingdao city, Shandong province on October 23-24, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Energy Ministry.

The conference titled "Implementing Innovations for a Shared Energy Future" will address key topics such as cooperation in energy security, the development of energy markets, technological innovations in green energy, and exploring financial opportunities for green energy advancement.

Shahbazov will deliver remarks at the opening ceremony of the Energy Ministers Conference and will also participate in the forum focused on "Strengthening Cooperation in Mutual Energy Coordination for Enhanced Energy Supply Diversification". The visit includes scheduled bilateral meetings with leaders of Chinese companies in Beijing.

Earlier, the third high-level forum on international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative was inaugurated in Beijing, where Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted the key principles of high-quality collaboration within the initiative.

The representatives from over 110 countries attended the forum. Various sessions, including an opening ceremony and three high-level discussions focused on connectivity, sustainable development, and the digital economy were held.

The "Belt and Road Initiative," originally proposed by Xi Jinping in 2013, combines the "Economic Silk Road" and the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road." According to official Chinese data, this initiative spans a vast portion of Eurasia, linking both developing and developed countries.
