Azerbaijani official: Armenians carried out ecological terrorism in Karabakh Photo
Sabukhi Gahramanov, Deputy Special Representative of the Azerbaijani President for Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly, has accused Armenian forces of committing ecological terrorism during their occupation.
Speaking at a session of the Interdepartmental Environmental Working Group in Khankendi, Gahramanov said Armenians secretly destroyed natural resources across the region, Caliber.Az reports, per local media.
He reported serious damage to natural landmarks, reserves, forests, and biodiversity. Agricultural lands were also left unusable.
He added that the occupation saw active exploitation of mineral deposits, including non-ferrous and ferrous metals, as well as mineral and freshwater resources.
Forest lands were damaged, and local plants and animals were systematically wiped out.
Gahramanov also highlighted the environmental dangers posed by hundreds of thousands of buried landmines, describing them as a serious ecological disaster. Demining and disposal of unexploded ordnance are ongoing.
