Azerbaijani Ombudsman focuses on protecting Karabakh Armenians’ rights, freedoms
Head of the Office of Azerbaijan’s Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) Aydin Safikhanli has said that Azerbaijan’s Ombudsman is focusing on ensuring and protecting the rights and freedoms of Karabakh residents of Armenian origin.
Safikhanli made the remarks at a meeting with members of the Council of Europe's Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities on October 25, Report informs, citing the Ombudsman’s Office.
At the meeting, Safikhanli, answering the questions of the guests, informed in detail about the measures taken in Azerbaijan to ensure the rights and freedoms of every person, regardless of religion, race and nationality.
He also spoke about the activities of the Ombudsman in combating discrimination.
In addition, Safikhanli spoke about the exchange of experience on the work carried out in Azerbaijan and in other countries in combating discrimination within the framework of the Eastern Partnership programme.
