Ukrainian embassy thanks Azerbaijan for humanitarian support
The Ukrainian embassy in Baku has expressed its gratitude to Azerbaijan for the humanitarian assistance provided since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In a statement published on Facebook to mark World Humanitarian Day, the embassy said the support of international organisations, donor countries, businesses and ordinary citizens had been vital in helping Ukraine overcome its challenges, Caliber.Az reports.
“We honour the memory of those who defended and supported humanity in its most difficult times. For Ukraine, this day carries special significance,” the statement read.
The embassy singled out Azerbaijan for particular appreciation, highlighting contributions in the energy sector as well as rehabilitation and recovery programmes for children affected by the war.
“We extend special thanks to friendly Azerbaijan, its leadership and its people, who have supported Ukraine from the very first days of the war,” the embassy added.
On August 11, 2025, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree authorising $2 million in humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
The funds, sourced from the presidential reserve fund of the 2025 budget, were designated for the Energy Ministry to purchase domestically produced electrical equipment and ship it to Ukraine.
