Azerbaijan welcomes 30 Ukrainian children for war-relief rehabilitation Photo
Azerbaijan has received a new group of 30 Ukrainian children for rehabilitation, the Azerbaijani embassy in Kyiv confirmed.
The children, who come from families affected by the war as well as from households of active military personnel, hail from Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Mariupol, Kremenchuk, and Kharkiv, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Ukraine, Seymur Mardaliyev, said that with the departure of this group, the total number of Ukrainian children sent to Azerbaijan for rehabilitation since the start of the conflict has reached 400.
During their stay at the camp in Baku, the children will participate in national dance classes and receive individual sessions with professional psychologists.
Organisers have also planned excursions to other regions across Azerbaijan to give the children cultural and recreational experiences.
On August 18, Azerbaijan welcomed its eighth group of 30 Ukrainian children under a humanitarian rehabilitation program run by the State Agency for Medical and Social Examination and Rehabilitation.
The 10-day programme at the Children's Rehabilitation Centre in Gabala offers medical and socio-psychological support, including individual counselling, group therapy, yoga, and dance sessions.
Participants will also take part in cultural and recreational activities, visiting leisure sites in Gabala and Sheki, and exploring Azerbaijani historical landmarks.
Since the initiative began, 222 Ukrainian children have received care through seven previous groups.
