Azerbaijani police, sappers find high explosives in Khojavand PHOTO

Employees of Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) and Interior Ministry officers have found explosive devices of great destructive power in the bottom and sides of four bridges in Khojavand district.

Boxes of TNT (Trinitrotoluene - chemical compound) weighing over 200 kg were found on mined bridges located near residential houses, the central district hospital, as well as in separate residential neighbourhoods, Caliber.Az reports, citing a joint statement by the press services of the Interior Ministry and ANAMA.

Thus, in the lower and side parts of the bridges were found boxes with 25 kg of TNT in each with an electric detonator and several TM-57 anti-tank mines of increasing radius and force of the explosion. They were placed with the purpose of committing a deadly explosion, mass destruction of equipment and people.

The detected explosive devices were defused by the ANAMA staff and the area was secured.
