Azerbaijani serviceman returned home from Armenia after getting lost on border VIDEO
An Azerbaijani serviceman who lost his way in unfavourable weather conditions in Lachin has been delivered from Armenia to Baku.
The serviceman Ruslan Panahov was handed over to the Azerbaijani side on March 5, APA reports.
"My health is normal, I feel good. I am very happy to return to my homeland,” Panahov told reporters at the airport.
He expressed gratitude to President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev: "I knew that he would save me from captivity".
Earlier on March 5, the National Security Service of Armenia reported that the authorities decided to return lost Azerbaijani serviceman Ruslan Panahov to his homeland.
"In fulfilment of the agreement reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan at the highest level that servicemen of both sides who have lost their way and found themselves on the opposite side should be returned as soon as possible, Armenia has decided to hand over Ruslan Panahov to the Azerbaijani side," the Service said.
On the morning of February 28, Panahov Ruslan Eldaniz oglu, a soldier of the Azerbaijani army, moving between positions in the territory of the Lachin district, lost his bearings due to adverse weather conditions and got lost.
