Azerbaijani wrestler competes for bronze in US tournament

The Freestyle and Women's Wrestling World Cup has kicked off in the United States.

Azerbaijan is represented on the American mat by Jala Aliyeva (57 kg) and Osman Nurmahammadov (92 kg), azerisport.com reports.

Nurmahammadov's team defeated Japan (9-1) in Group B and lost to Iran (4-6). He beat Satoshi Miura (10-0) and Amirhossein Firuzpandrpei (10-10).

As a result, Nurmahammadov's team finished second in their group and will face Georgia for third place. Osman will fight Miriani Maisuradze of Georgia. The US and Iran will meet in the final.

Aliyeva's team lost in Group B to China (5-5) and the US (4-6), losing to Yong Hin Feng (6-14) and Alexandra Hendrick (0-0). As a result, Aliyeva's team was third in the group and finished third.

The finals and matches for third place will take place of December 11.
