Baku, London reaffirm commitment to expanding partnership

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Duncan Norman, the newly appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the country, for talks on bilateral relations and regional developments.

Ambassador Norman presented copies of his credentials during the meeting, marking the start of his diplomatic mission in the country, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

FM Bayramov congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom.

The discussions focused on the current state of and prospects for Azerbaijani-British relations, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the steady development of cooperation between Baku and London across a range of sectors, including politics, trade and economics, energy, investment, and education.

The parties also underscored the importance of elevating bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership and expanding economic cooperation further.

During the meeting, Bayramov briefed the ambassador on the latest developments in the region, including the post-conflict realities in the South Caucasus and the ongoing process of normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Ambassador Norman, for his part, expressed his satisfaction at commencing his posting in Azerbaijan and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing closer cooperation and further strengthening bilateral relations throughout his tenure.
