Baku, Moscow plan major boost for North–South Transport Corridor
Azerbaijan and Russia have held talks on advancing the International North–South Transport Corridor, focusing on boosting its capacity and enhancing transport and logistics infrastructure.
The discussions occurred during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, coinciding with the visit of a Russian government delegation to Baku, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The sides stressed the need for efficient operations at border checkpoints along the Russia-Azerbaijan state border and highlighted the importance of ongoing modernisation.
Both countries welcomed the steady growth of trade between them. They particularly emphasised the extensive opportunities for implementing joint investment projects with medium- and long-term horizons.
During the discussions, both sides agreed that the 24th session of the Azerbaijan-Russia Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on Economic Cooperation will take place in Azerbaijan this April.
The previous 23rd session of the IGC on Economic Cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan was held on August 22, 2025, in Astrakhan.
