Baku responds to Armenian PM’s groundless allegations

04 May 2023 18:17

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has commented on the allegations made by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, during a press conference in the Czech Republic.

"We categorically reject the absurd accusations voiced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian at a joint press conference with the Czech Prime Minister on May 4 regarding Azerbaijan's establishment of a checkpoint on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border and the alleged aggravation of the situation on the border with Armenia and a 'humanitarian crisis' in the Karabakh region," the ministry said in a statement, according to Caliber.Az.

"Any comments about Azerbaijan establishing a border crossing point Lachin on its sovereign territory, which Armenian residents are already transparently crossing in both directions, are unacceptable. The Armenian side must put an end to its interference in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan and to its aggressive policy pursued against us for many years.

As for the prime minister's absurd ideas about 'ethnic cleansing', let us note that instead of admitting and apologizing for the policy of massacres and deportations with special cruelty against Azerbaijanis throughout history, blaming Azerbaijan for such acts is an indication of not learning from history. The Armenian side's making such statements during the negotiations of the peace treaty does not serve peace," the MFA stressed.
