Chinese military attaché confident in growing defence partnership with Azerbaijan
Military cooperation between China and Azerbaijan is set to continue developing successfully and reach new heights, according to the Chinese military attaché to Azerbaijan, Colonel Sun Zhong.
Speaking at an event marking the 98th anniversary of the founding of China’s People’s Liberation Army and the 80th anniversary of the country’s liberation from Japanese occupation, he reflected on the strong and steadily growing defence ties between the two nations since establishing diplomatic relations, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The diplomat said: “We have carried out a range of practical and effective activities in areas including high-level exchanges, military-technical cooperation, and the training and education of military personnel. This cooperation has not only enhanced the professional standards of our servicemen but also deepened mutual understanding and trust between the armed forces of China and Azerbaijan.”
He highlighted a recent key consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as providing additional momentum for defence collaboration.
“As the military attaché, I am fully confident that under the leadership of our two countries’ leaders and through joint efforts, China-Azerbaijan military cooperation will achieve even more impressive results,” he added.
