Balaban musical instrument included in UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage

At the proposal of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, the musical instrument balaban has been included in UNESCO's representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

“The making of balaban and the performing arts on it, presented by Azerbaijan together with Türkiye, was included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage at the 18th session of the Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage,” the National Commission of Azerbaijan in UNESCO wrote on X, Caliber.Az reports.

Now #Azerbaijan has 23 elements on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity:

-Art of illumination: Təzhib/Tazhib;
-Iftar and its socio-cultural traditions;
- Craftsmanship and performing art of balaban/mey;
-Craftsmanship of mother of pearl inlay.
