Beirut airport sees mass flight cancellations as tensions rise between Israel, Hezbollah
Over 40 flights to and from Lebanon's capital were cancelled due to an escalation in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah on September 23.
A notice posted on the official website of Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport announced the cancellation of numerous flights, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
A total of 29 inbound flights and 15 outbound flights, operated by international carriers such as Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, and Flydubai, were affected.
Notably, Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah has launched a new wave of strikes into northern Israel, following Israeli airstrikes on the group in Lebanon that resulted in nearly 500 fatalities and around 1,600 injuries — marking Lebanon's deadliest day in nearly twenty years.
Israel and Hezbollah have been caught in a cycle of retaliation since the onset of the Gaza conflict.
However, in the past week, Israel's intensified assaults on Hezbollah have raised concerns about the potential for a broader regional conflict.
