Belarus, Russia launch joint “Zapad-2025” military exercises
Belarusian and Russian armed forces have begun their joint strategic exercises, “Zapad-2025,” the Russian Ministry of Defence announced.
The drills mark the final stage of joint military training for 2025 and aim to enhance command capabilities and improve coordination between regional and coalition forces in maintaining peace, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
During the exercises, troops from both countries will practice operational plans to respond to potential aggression against the Union State, as well as conduct joint scenarios to neutralise threats and stabilise situations.
The exercises will be conducted in two main phases. The first phase focuses on managing military units in repelling aggression against the Union State, while the second phase involves restoring territorial integrity and defeating opposing forces, including with participation from allied state forces.
The activities will take place across Belarus and Russia, as well as in the waters of the Baltic and Barents Seas.
