On October 29, a delegation from the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus, headed by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov and Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Petkevich, conducted an official visit to the Aghdam district.

During the visit to the recently liberated district, the co-chairs were briefed on a development project in the village of Gyzyl Kengerli, local media reports.

The project includes plans to establish an agro-town, aimed at supporting the comprehensive development of settlements in the district, revitalising the local village, and boosting the regional economy.

Officials highlighted that the initiative is expected to play a significant role in the socio-economic recovery of the area, following its liberation.

A delegation of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus, led by Azerbaijani co-chair and Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov, and Belarusian co-chair, Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Petkevich, visited the Fuzuli district, recently liberated from occupation.

Emin Huseynov, the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan for the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts, briefed the delegation on the operations of Fuzuli International Airport, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The airport, described as the “air gateway to Karabakh,” has been constructed to modern standards and can accommodate all types of aircraft.

Officials highlighted that extensive reconstruction and development work is ongoing across the liberated territories. In Fuzuli city, a new residential area has been built, and former internally displaced persons are returning to their homeland.

The delegation also received information about educational and cultural facilities donated by other countries: a secondary school named after Mirzo Ulugbek, gifted by the people of Uzbekistan under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Children's Creativity Centre named after Kurmangazy, donated by Kazakhstan.

Construction continues on a central hospital and a vocational-educational complex in Fuzuli. Work on the village of Dovletyarli is progressing rapidly.

The second and third residential complexes in Fuzuli are scheduled to begin at the end of this year and early next year, while construction of the central city park will start soon. The village of Pirakhmedli has recently begun construction and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Following their visit to Fuzuli, the delegation proceeded to the Aghdam district.
