Belizean ambassador hails Baku Initiative Group's role in decolonization efforts
Carlos Fuller, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Belize to the United Nations in New York, praised the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) for its significant efforts in the decolonization struggle.
Speaking at the BIG’s office, Fuller emphasized the critical role of self-determination and territorial integrity in the fight for freedom, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Fuller noted that every nation must strive for its independence, highlighting BIG’s meaningful contributions to supporting colonized countries in this endeavor. Reflecting on Belize's own journey, he recalled the country's struggle to achieve independence from Britain in 1981, underscoring the persistent effort required to secure self-determination and restore territorial integrity.
“The Baku Initiative Group is playing a crucial role in assisting countries as they advocate for their rights and freedoms,” Fuller stated.
“In Belize, our primary focus was on achieving self-determination and ensuring our territorial integrity, a challenging but essential process,” the ambassador noted.
