BP starts drilling new exploration well at Shah Deniz

BP has announced the drilling of a new exploratory well (SDX-8) on behalf of Shah Deniz partners within the framework of the Shah Deniz Exploration, Development and Production Sharing Agreement (SHD HPBS) located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

The SDX-8 well is to be drilled by a Heydar Aliyev semi-submersible drilling rig, APA reports, quoting BP.

The well is expected to be about 7,000 metres deep, with a drilling period of a year.
