British intelligence: Russia to fail to prevent offensive of Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Russian military is trying to prevent the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the rivers Ingulets and Seversky Donets. However, missile attacks on the dams did not bring the desired result, Caliber.Az reports referring to the daily review of British intelligence, published by the British Ministry of Defence.
As noted in the summary, on September 21 and 22, 2022, Russia attacked the dam at Pechenegs on the Seversky Donets River using short-range ballistic missiles or similar weapons. This happened after the strike on the Karachunovskaya dam near Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine on September 15, 2022.
Ukrainian forces are moving further down both rivers, according to British intelligence. As Russian commanders become more concerned about their operational setbacks, they are likely trying to hit the dams' sluice gates to flood Ukrainian military positions.
"It is unlikely that the attacks caused significant damage to Ukrainian operations due to the large distance between the damaged dams and the war zones," the British Ministry of Defence said.
