Brussels approves two-year extension for EU Mission in Armenia
European Union ambassadors in Brussels have approved a decision to extend the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA) for another two years, ensuring the presence of European observers in the country’s border regions until February 19, 2027.
According to Armenian media sources, the European Union has decided to maintain the mission's mandate unchanged, which was originally granted two years ago, Caliber.Az reports.
The composition and number of observers will remain the same, with 165 foreign nationals and 44 Armenian members continuing their work.
According to the mission's representatives in Armenia, this decision is expected to receive formal approval from the EU member states' foreign ministers in the near future.
Armenian media suggest that this approval is a formality, as the ambassadors of the member states already reflected their governments' position by voting in favour of the proposal on January 29.
