21 May 2024 20:20

In Brussels, a round table discussion was held on the opportunities of the EU's Global Gateway initiative and the full potential utilization of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium said.

Leaders of the European Commission attended the event, including representatives from the Directorate-General for Transport, the European External Action Service, and other EU institutions, AZERTAC reports.

Participants discussed the EU's Global Gateway initiative and the significance of the Middle Corridor for sustainable development of transport links between Europe and Asia. Meeting attendees noted that this corridor could significantly contribute to stability and trade growth in the region, especially amidst the instability of other routes.

During the meeting, it was also emphasized that the new composition of the European Commission and the European Parliament would play an important role in further developing and advancing the sustainable Trans-Caspian corridor.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium Sapar Palvanov confirmed the country's commitment to developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route to strengthen connections between Europe and Asia.

The ambassador also noted that Turkmenistan actively participates in international initiatives and forums aimed at developing transport corridors. As Palvanov emphasized, at the investor forum in Brussels, Turkmenistan presented its projects and attracted significant attention from international investors and logistics companies.

The International Trans-Caspian Transport Route (Middle Corridor) connects countries in Europe and Asia, passing through China, Kazakhstan, the waters of the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. This route is used for container transportation via rail and sea transport.
