Chechen leader calls Russian regions for "self-mobilisation"
Head of Russia’s Chechnya Republic Ramzan Kadyrov is sure that there is no need to wait for the declaration of martial law, or vice versa, to "sit out waiting for the end of the special military operation in Ukraine".
“Since Russia is a federal state, the head of each region must conduct "self-mobilisation" and help the state with "concrete actions”. So, if each region puts up 1,000 volunteers, then the ‘special operation’ can be completed without mobilisation being announced,” Kommersant quotes him as saying on September 15.
“I believe that each regional leader is quite capable of preparing, training and staffing at least 1,000 volunteers. For a single subject, this is not such a large number, I would even say that this is the minimum that subjects must fulfil initially. But on a national scale, this is an impressive military contingent of 85,000 people - almost an army!” Kadyrov wrote on Telegram.
“I know from experience that in our country [Russia] there are enough sincere patriots who are ready to join the ranks of volunteers,” he said.
