Chief rabbi: Azerbaijan’s tolerance sets powerful example in divided world VIDEO
Chief Rabbi of Ashkenazi Jews in Azerbaijan, Shneor Segal, spoke in an interview with Baku TV about the country’s role in promoting tolerance amid global conflicts and rising religious hatred.
"Amid ongoing wars and conflicts worldwide, it becomes clear that living with humanity beyond religious differences is essential to prevent human suffering. Aggression must always be met with a response, and any form of racism should be immediately condemned and stopped," he noted.
Segal emphasised the urgent need to combat all groups promoting Islamophobia. He praised a scientific conference held in Azerbaijan that highlights these critical issues and calls for global solidarity in addressing them. “This is an important and meaningful process,” he said.
He warned that hatred, if left unchecked, shifts targets—from Muslims today to Jews tomorrow, and eventually threatens everyone. “The biggest problems start with a lack of love,” Segal noted.
The rabbi also highlighted Azerbaijan’s example to the world, saying the country shows how people can live peacefully and tolerate each other in an atmosphere of mutual understanding. “Azerbaijan is demonstrating to the entire world how it is possible to live without issues regarding tolerance,” he stressed.
