China remains among Azerbaijan’s top three trade partners in Q1
Azerbaijan’s largest trading partner in January–March 2026 was Italy, with total trade turnover reaching $2.604 billion, while China ranked among the top three.
Italy accounted for 27.69% of the country’s overall trade, Caliber.Az reports, citing the State Customs Committee.
However, trade with Italy declined by 13.5% compared to the same period in 2025.
Türkiye ranked second, with a trade turnover of $1.309 billion (13.91% share), down 8.5% year-on-year.
China held third place, with trade increasing by 7.3% to $1.104 billion, representing 11.73% of Azerbaijan’s total trade turnover.
Other countries in the top ten were ranked as follows: Russia with $746.78 million (a 1.9-fold decline), the United States with $296.26 million (a 2.2-fold increase), Germany with $295.21 million (a 1.8-fold decline), Georgia with $264.69 million (up 28.9%), the Czech Republic with $195.71 million (down 39.2%), Romania with $195.56 million (down 19.9%), and Bulgaria with $186.89 million (up 18.6%).
Overall, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover in the first quarter of 2026 fell by 21.9% compared to the same period in 2025, totalling $9.407 billion, according to the State Customs Committee.
Earlier reports indicated that Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade turnover reached $49.423 billion in 2025, marking a 3.8% increase compared to 2024.
