China’s Xi, Trump agree to maintain regular contact on major issues of common concern
Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President-elect Donald Trump agreed to establish strategic communication channels and maintain regular contact on major issues of common concern.
They reached the agreement during a telephone conversation, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
The newly agreed-upon communication channel is intended to provide a platform for sustained discussions on major matters that impact both nations, particularly those involving international security and diplomacy.
During their telephone conversation, Xi and Trump focused on several pressing global issues. Notably, they discussed the ongoing Ukrainian crisis and the complex geopolitical situation in the Middle East, including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The two leaders exchanged perspectives on these conflicts, which have been at the forefront of international attention for years.
Following the discussion, Trump described the conversation as "very good for both Beijing and Washington," expressing optimism that the two countries would now be able to address many shared challenges together.
Trump stated that he and Xi covered a range of issues, including trade imbalances and the ongoing disputes surrounding the TikTok platform. The president-elect emphasized their mutual commitment to working together to make the world a safer place.
In related developments, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the official representative from China who will attend Trump's inauguration ceremony, further underscoring the importance of continued diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
