CIS countries begin development of unified air defence system
Member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have started implementing measures to develop a unified air defence system, Lieutenant General Yuri Dashkin, Secretary of the Council of Defence Ministers of the CIS, confirmed.
Speaking to TASS, Dashkin said, “The agreements that have been reached are already being implemented, and all the funds allocated are being used for their intended purpose. We regularly inform both the Committee of Chiefs of Staff and the Council of Defence Ministers about this.”
He was responding to questions regarding the launch of initiatives for a joint CIS air defence system, for which funds were agreed upon in December 2024.
Dashkin also highlighted that numerous training and joint exercises, including both live and command-staff drills, are underway.
“We are sharing our unique experience in the use of air defence forces to ensure reliable protection for our states, so that the peoples of our states can work and labour in peace,” he added.
