CIS guests tour Lachin’s cultural and artistic landmarks photo
As part of the closing ceremony for the “Cultural Capital of the CIS–2025” Year, a delegation of guests from CIS countries visited the city of Lachin, where the Ministry of Culture and the Special Representation of the President of Azerbaijan in Lachin organised a guided tour of the city.
According to local media, the visit began at the Hochazfilm creative studio, a project designed to establish a dynamic, multifaceted creative hub in Karabakh. The studio derives its name from the Hochaz cliffs, one of the key symbols of the Lachin District. Hochazfilm will support film producers with services for organising shoots, showcasing the region’s natural beauty and opportunities, and providing the necessary technical equipment.
Guests toured the studio’s pavilion, which featured intricately designed sets, including an aeroplane, helicopter, prison, scientific laboratory, and triangular green-screen structures, offering a glimpse into the region’s growing creative infrastructure.
The next stop was the Gilabi Ceramics creative centre, where the guests observed crafts that reflect the rich cultural and historical heritage of Lachin and the broader Karabakh region. Notably, some of the artists working at the center were invited from Baku to train local residents in these traditional techniques, blending heritage with skill development.
The visit also included a tour of Yurd Gallery, the first cultural and artistic space to open in Lachin following its liberation. Guests were briefed on the gallery’s significance, highlighting its role in the restoration and cultural revival of Karabakh. The establishment of Yurd Gallery is seen as a key step in promoting art, culture, and community engagement in the region.
The city tour offered a comprehensive view of Lachin’s cultural renaissance, showcasing both its historical symbols and modern initiatives designed to position the city as a vibrant hub for creativity and cultural exchange in the region.
