Croatian PM initiates talks on energy partnership with Ilham Aliyev in Davos PHOTOS
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has met with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 22.
The meeting in Switzerland was requested by the Croatian side, as Caliber.Az reports citing the official website of the Azerbaijani head of state.
Both President Aliyev and Prime Minister Plenković praised their countries' strong relations and cooperation, particularly in the energy sector. Azerbaijan's critical role in ensuring Croatia's energy security was emphasized, and the prospects for increasing Azerbaijani gas exports to Croatia was discussed.
President Aliyev informed his counterpart that Azerbaijan currently exports gas to 10 European countries, of which eight are European Union member states. It was underscored that the EU views Azerbaijan as a pan-European energy supplier.
One of the talking points was the COP29 climate conference which was hosted by Azerbaijan in November 2024. The parties talked about the outcomes of the UN summit, which produced significant agreements that are aimed at advancing the global climate agenda.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on enhancing cooperation between the two countries in other fields, as well as a conversation on strengthening Azerbaijan's ties with the European Union.
In conclusion to their talk, Prime Minister Plenković extended an invitation to President Aliyev for an official visit to Croatia.
