Deputy FM: Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile enough for ten nuclear bombs
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said the country is operating in a “defensive mode” amid ongoing US and Israeli military operations, while stressing that its enriched uranium stockpile is enough for ten nuclear bombs, in an interview with MS NOW.
He emphasised that Iran will defend its rights and people by all means.
“Our message to everybody who is listening is that we are defending ourselves,” Takht-Ravanchi noted, adding that a war has been imposed on them and they have every right to defend themselves.
When asked about communication between the U.S. and Iran since the strikes began, the Deputy Foreign Minister said his country has “heard nothing” and has “not sent any message to Americans.”
Responding to claims by US special envoy Steve Wiktoff that Iran was demonstrating nuclear capabilities, Takht-Ravanchi said the country was not boasting but merely reporting scientific achievements.
He added that Iran is willing to discuss limitations on its nuclear program if they “get something good in return.”
The deputy minister confirmed that Iran possesses 60% enriched uranium, enough for roughly ten nuclear bombs, but stressed that the country has no intention of using them.
