Deputy minister: Azerbaijan set to become key player in Eurasian logistics In case of opening of Zangezur Corridor
Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov has said that in case of opening the Zangezur Corridor following the restoration of territorial integrity, Azerbaijan will emerge as a key player in Eurasian logistics.
Hummatov made these remarks during Zero Emissions Shipping, Freight Logistics and Transport Roundtable Baku, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The deputy minister emphasised that the Zangezur Corridor will provide the shortest and safest transit route among Europe, Central Asia, and China.
"By investing in strategic infrastructure, Azerbaijan is taking significant steps to transform the transportation routes that pass through its territory. For example, from 2019 to 2023, the volume of transit cargo transported through Azerbaijan increased from 5.7 million tons to 13.4 million tons. Azerbaijan and its partners are committed to 'green transformation' initiatives along the Middle Corridor," he added.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, is an international transport route that runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and stretching in Türkiye and European countries. A key component of this corridor is the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
