Disinformation counteraction center: Erdoğan made no threat to occupy Israel
Türkiye’s Centre for Combating Disinformation has denied social media claims alleging that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan threatened to occupy Israel or launch attacks on Iran and Lebanon, describing the reports as entirely fabricated and aimed at destabilising the region.
In a statement, the centre said remarks circulating in certain media and online platforms attributing claims of “threats to occupy Israel” to the Turkish president were “completely unfounded”, Caliber.Az reports.
“The statements published in some media outlets and on social media, attributing to our President claims that ‘Türkiye allegedly threatens Israel with occupation’, do not correspond to reality,” the statement read.
It added that such narratives were misleading and intended to undermine regional stability, stressing that Türkiye, guided by its long-standing state tradition, prioritises efforts to end violence, protect civilians and establish lasting peace both in its immediate neighbourhood and beyond.
The centre further said Ankara consistently places international law and diplomatic channels at the forefront of its approach to regional crises, aiming to reduce rather than escalate tensions.
It also underlined that under Erdoğan’s leadership, Türkiye prioritises ensuring that the peoples of the region can live in peace, security and prosperity without discrimination.
The statement concluded by warning against “manipulative materials” distorting Türkiye’s humanitarian stance, saying the country continues to act as a voice of justice, peace and common sense in the region.
